Whats Love Got To Do With It? The truth about Love

The word love has strong connotations that lead us all in different directions.  For some, to love and be loved is the greatest regard.  To others, love is the enemy.  Most are somewhere in between the two extremes, believing that love is both a blessing and a curse.  Ultimately, we don’t take love seriously.  And until we look at the Bible and listen to what God has to say, we will always be asking ourselves, “Whats love got to do with it?”

Earthly Love

Human beings do experience love.  We do have compassion for other living creatures.  Some of us do find another being that we marry and share our lives with.  Anyone who has ever had a child knows about the hard core love that can incorporate your entire being once that life is even conceived.

The point is, human love is fleeting, it is imperfect, and it is often times mistaken for obsession, infatuation, even lust.  The famous Tina Turner song rings true with the lyrics, “who needs a heart when a heart can be broken?”  Earthly love can leave us broken.

Godly Love

True, unconditional love comes from God.  His love is one that flows free.  It is as pure as white snow because of what he did for us.

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” -John 3:16

He loved us so much that he made the ultimate sacrifice so that we might be saved.  So that we might live.  So that we might know love.  What a gift.  What a true love indeed.

The next time you are wondering, “whats love got to do with it” when love has got you down, look up because there is absolutely someone loving you right now.  Blessings.
