The seven days of love: agape

Agape love

Love begins in each of us. It starts within and builds from there. If you do not find it within, you can not find it without. There are several types of love and this week, we will discuss them all in length. Today we will commence this adventure with universal love: Agape.

The seven types of love: Agape.

Agape is the love of the soul. It encompasses the modern concept of altruism which is unselfish concern for the welfare of others. It is a Christian term referring to the highest form of love, charity. The love of God for man and man for God. It is not a feeling; it is a motivation for action that we are free to choose or reject. Agape is a sacrificial love that voluntarily suffers inconvenience, discomfort, and even death for the benefit of another without expecting anything in return. It relays love as an action by way of seeking the wellbeing of others before yourself.

Agape love involves faithfulness, commitment, and an act of will.

It embraces a universal, unconditional love that transcends and persists regardless of circumstance.

A love that is pure, honest, and raw. Agape brings me back to God every time.
