The arrows forcefully leave the bow and plunge into the two bodies. Destined to intertwine with one another in passionate love, their hearts are pierced with an overwhelming desire to connect. It is day 6 of the seven days of love: Eros.
the word eros
Eros is derived from erotic. It is Often used to portray the arousal shared between people who are physically attracted to one another. Sexual love.
what is eros
Eros is romantic love expressed in physical and sensual intimacy. It incites our animal instincts and is satisfied in sex. When thought of in Greek mythology, Eros is often depicted by a cherub, with his bow and arrow, fluttering about shooting love into the hearts of all. This love, being Eros is wrought with lust and desire for one.
In the Bible, Eros describes the healthy, common expression of physical love carried out between a husband and wife. C.S Lewis believes that there is a distinction “between wanting a woman and wanting a particular woman” in Eros love. I particularly find that definition rather beautiful. It refers back to the arrows leaving the bow of the cherub and entering the two bodies that find one another and want for no one else.
the conclusion to the 7 days of love: eros
There is often a mixture of anger, sexual urge, joy and jealousy wrapped in Eros love. Marriage is often based on Eros love but, is not an adequate foundation for marriage if it is the only type present. Though this love is full of passion and desire, it does not exist without the other loves we have formerly discussed. That is the seven days of love: Eros.
