Snowdrops are generally toxic to animals and humans when ingested. Yet, there is interestingly an antidote in them for a specific kind of poison. The alkaloid Galantamine can be isolated from snowdrops and has been used in memory studies. To treat Alzheimer’s, Neuritis and Neuralgia has been its primary use.

Traditionally, the Snowdrop was used as a rub-on treatment for headaches as well.
