When I think about Halloween, dressing up, candy, and pumpkins come to mind.  Even though my children focus on their costumes and what types of masks they will wear, pumpkin is always the top subject of the holiday for me.  It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown is significant to the month of October.  The great pastime of pumpkin carving seems to stick with me every year.  It is the foundation of all my Halloween Pumpkin Fun.

Pumpkin Carving

Cutting faces into large round orange objects always brought me joy as a child.  My dad would carve and cut.  My job was always to scrap out the guts.  We would place a candle in the inside bottom of the carcass so it could shine into the night.  It would be displayed on the porch on Halloween night so everyone could observe our talents with regards to pumpkin carving.

Pumpkin Painting

As years progressed, the art of painting pumpkins emerged.  Preschool and kindergarten classes everywhere were putting finger paint and acrylic to small pumpkin patches.  At times glitter has been involved in the decorating as well.  I have been on the receiving end of these beautiful pumpkins a time or two.  They are pretty amazing!

Pumpkin Felt

The all new rage in pumpkin decorating no longer involves knives, paint, or glitter but, felt.  Little kits with felt parts for a cat, a pirate, a spider, or a bat can be found in all the stores.  All you have to do is remove the  parts from the kit that are already cut to perfection and apply them to the pumpkin.  No knife needed.  No scissors needed.  Not even a speck of glue is needed.  It is that easy.  Nothing gets dirty.  No pumpkin mess all over the table.  No paint staining the carpet.  It is Halloween pumpkin fun that is easy to execute.

Conclusion

If you have kids, you will be partaking in various Halloween festivities.  When it comes to pumpkins, you get to choose which method you will follow.  Will you carve, paint, or felt your pumpkin this year?  Maybe you will choose to do all three.
